Freymar’s Regeneration Cycle for Aquaculture

Freymar aims to regenerate harvest by-products and waste from the aquaculture industry to produce enriched fish feed. The harvest waste is formulated into microbial media that, in turn, is placed into a bioreactor. The reactor is inoculated with microbes that produce large quantities of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). The omega-3 FAs are essential for healthy fish growth in aquaculture. Currently, fish meal and fish oils are the source of omega-3. Freymar’s technology goes straight to the primary source of PUFAs: marine microbes. Freymar’s technology regenerates aquaculture harvest waste that otherwise would go to a landfill, making the industry sustainable.

Founder & General Manager

Freymar’s founder, Dr. Magnus Orn Stefansson, has a Ph.D. in natural sciences and an MBA in business management. He has over 20 years of experience in research, academia, and industry – all of which has led to the R&D of Freymar’s technology.
